Martin Luther King
Yesterday was would of been Martin Luther King’s 77th birthday. King was born in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1929. He studied to be a minister and moved to Montgomery, Alabama, to preach at the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church. In 1954, the year the U.S. Supreme Court outlawed racial segregation in public schools. In 1955, King led a boycott of the city’s buses after an African-American woman, Rosa Parks, was arrested for refusing to give up her seat to a white man. The boycott lasted more than a year, but led to a 1956 U.S. Supreme Court decision that banned seating separated by race on buses. In 1963, King led 250,000 people in a march on Washington, D.C., to support civil rights legislation. The event’s highlight was King’s famous speech, “I Have a Dream.” The next year, King won the Nobel Peace Prize. “I accept this prize on behalf of all men who love peace and brotherhood,” he said at the ceremony.
King will always be remembered.
President Bush’s Speech
A couple days ago, the president made a speech about sending more troops to Iraq. I think it is a good idea, just to get everything calmed down. Tell me what you think.
Gerald Ford’s Death
On December 27, 2006 former U.S. president Gerald Ford passed away. At 93 president Ford was the oldest president to live. “The American people will always admire Gerald Ford’s devotion to duty, his personal character, and the honorable conduct of his administration. We mourn the loss of such a leader, and our 38th president will always have a special place in our Nation’s memory. On behalf of all Americans, Laura and I offer our deepest sympathies to Betty Ford and all of President Ford’s family. Our thoughts and prayers will be with them in the hours and days ahead.” said President George W. Bush. Ford’s reputation for integrity and openness had made him popular during his 25 years in Congress. From 1965 to 1973, he was House Minority Leader. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, in 1913, he grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He starred on the University of Michigan football team, and then Ford went to Yale, where he served as assistant coach while earning his law degree. During World War II he attained the rank of lieutenant commander in the Navy. After the war he returned to Grand Rapids, where he began the practice of law, and entered Republican politics. A few weeks before his election to Congress in 1948, he married Elizabeth Bloomer. They have four children: Michael, John, Steven, and Susan. Tell me what you think about my post and my info!!!

Cell Phones
Yes, i do think that cell phones should be allowed at school. If a emergency happens, and you have to go home, how will you get a hold of your parents? It is a safety thing. Tell me what you think!

My Family Tradition
I have 2 family’s and I will tell you both of them!!!!!!
My mom’s family’s Christmas tradition is me waking everybody up bright and early to see what “Santa” left us. we open everything and then we get ready to go to my Papaw’s house to eat and open presents. That is my family’s tradition at my mom’s house.
At my dad’s house we go to my uncle’s house and we have Christmas Eve over there, my relatives come down from Michigan. We eat and we play football in the dark with a light up football(normally) we open presents, socialize and we go home.
St. Jude Math-a-thon
Do you like math? If you do there is a program that you can do, and at the same you can help kids with cancer and other serious illnesses. It is the St. Jude Math-A-Thon. Mostly elementary schools do this program, but I think that all schools should be involved in this. I mean Kaufman Jr. High could pull this off, we do can food drives and toy drives, so why not do a Math-a-thon? The kids at St.Jude’s really could use some help and need a good a Christmas. If everybody pitches in, and we raise enough money we can find better cures.

Thanksgiving Break
On Thursday I went to my Papaw’s house for Thanksgiving dinner. I got to see most of my family. I also went to the new Bass Pro Shops. After dinner we headed for our five hour drive to Mullen, Texas. On Friday we went to the “After Thanksgiving Day Sale”, that was like the only exciting thing I did! lol

Pro’s & Cons of internets in classrooms.
Pro’s:
One pro is that students get to play activities online about what they are studying. Students can get good education. Some kids use internet for educational games.
Con’s:
One con is that kids go to sites that are inappropriate. Kids also look up stuff that is just wrong.
